Ministry of Transportation Highway 97 Paving Project: Update

June 6th

Section 1: Swan Lake to Salmon River Bridge

We’re pleased to inform you that the hot-in-place paving for Section 1, spanning from Swan Lake to Salmon River Bridge, has been successfully completed. As of June 1, 2024, the joint seal has been applied to this section, ensuring durability and extended life for the new pavement. We anticipate that line painting will be finished by the end of next week, enhancing road safety and visibility. Additionally, planning to conduct smoothness testing on this section, likely within the next week, to ensure the quality of the pavement meets standards.

Section 3: End of the Four-Lane to Hanna Road

The contractor has now moved on to Section 3 of the project, which stretches from the end of the four-lane highway to Hanna Road. Progress here includes the completion of the level course along Monte Lake by OAL, and the base repair work carried out by AIM has been successfully capped with asphalt by OAL.Concrete roadside barriers, which are essential for safety, are currently being produced by KonKast. These barriers re-installed as soon as possible to ensure the safety of road users. Although recent wet weather has caused some delays in construction schedule, the contractor’s daily production rate has shown significant improvement, allowing to make up for lost time.
