Way’ Members:
The following email was received from Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) on July 25, 2024:

“We can confirm that the regular annual housing funding has been exhausted. ISC is waiting on direction from central agencies for confirmation of additional funds that may be allocated to the BC region. If additional funding is provided, applications will be reviewed for funding consideration based on their placement in the queue.”

This statement, albeit concerning, represents a suspension in funding for our ISC-funded Housing Support Program. This includes renovations, energy efficiency upgrades, and new home subsidies. At this time all applications in queue are being held by ISC pending direction from Ottawa on what funds will be available in the coming months.

Public Works and Housing will not accept new applications at this time and will continue to process the remaining applications on file. We apologize for the concern this will no doubt generate in the community but we as a nation have no say in how these critical funds are allocated.
