6 Mile dam project complete

The construction work is now complete at 6-mile dam.

You can see in the first photo where the irrigation intake is and the large pool that is created above the riffle.

Spawning gravel shows where spawning gravel is placed, which is appropriately sized for Kikanee, Chinook and Sockeye.

Riffle 2 and 2b show the second much smaller riffle, placed primarily as a backwater pool to protect the lower half of the first riffle at high flows.

The large boulders placed sporadically around the creek are there mainly to provide stability during high water events (freshet) as well as to provide habitat and defense for fish.

Revegetation and seeding will take place in the fall.
