2024-25 OKIB Heating Supplement Program for Elders

OKIB is providing a Winter Heating Supplement for Elders starting October 15, 2024 until March 31, 2025. The program will be reassessed if we have an extended winter season.

The winter heating supplement is designed to assist Elders who are age 65 or older on or before March 31, 2024, with their winter heating costs. The supplement is available to Elders living on and off reserve.

For Elders age 65+ living ON reserve:

• Elders whose homes are heated by firewood or pellets will have firewood or pellets delivered to their homes.

• Elders whose homes are heated by other sources will receive a

payment of $800 to assist with the cost of home heating.

For Elders age 65+ living OFF reserve:

• Elders living off reserve will receive a payment of $800 to assist with the cost of home heating.

• Elders living off reserve are not eligible for delivery of firewood or pellets.

Additional eligibility for the program may be provided to OKIB

members living on reserve and under the age of 65 who have:

• Medical/Physical limitations, and

• Lack the natural supports or financial ability to meet their

home heating needs independently.
