Hullcar mountain fire – OKIB staff are monitoring the fire situation

Please be advised that the OKIB Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has been monitoring the Hullcar Mountain Fire which is on the northern area of Splatin’s Salmon River IR #1. The fire was reported last night, and a lightning strike was determined to be the cause. The OKIB EOC staff are monitoring the fire and the EOC has now been officially activated this morning.
The last report was that the fire was 70 ha in size. BC Wildfire has responded to this fire with 4 Initial Attack Crews, 1 rappel crew and 2 wildfire officers for a total of 25 personnel responding to this wildfire. There are currently 3 helicopters and airtankers responding to this wildfire. In addition, heavy equipment has been responding to this wildfire to the south end of the fire building guard. There will be crews on site and a night vision helicopter working overnight. The OKIB Fire Department will also be doing high alert patrols in the northern area throughout the night.
The OKIB EOC is monitoring the situation closely and will provide the community with the most up to date information as we receive it.
As of 20:30 hours there is an evacuation alert on the north side of Heywood-Armstrong Road at present including Splatsin’s IR 1. Please note that NO OKIB lands are under alert at this time.
OKIB EOC staff are ready to act as needed. Staff are in contact with Emergency Management BC to ensure we are immediately informed of any changes.
