Primary Care Clinic Update

June 15th, 2026

The OKIB Health Department is working with Interior Health, the Shuswap North Okanagan Division of Family Practice, and our clinic physicians to strengthen physician coverage and support stable clinic operations.

Like many communities in BC, we are experiencing challenges with physician availability. This may affect appointment access at times. Work is underway to explore additional supports, including recruitment efforts, temporary coverage options, and ways to better support clinic workflows.

We appreciate the community’s patience as this work continues. If you have an urgent medical concern, please call 911 or attend the nearest emergency department. For non-urgent clinic matters, please continue to contact the OKIB Primary Care Clinic during regular clinic hours.

The Clinic uses a team-based care approach to health care. Team-based health care happens when different health care providers work together with you to meet your health care needs. The providers you see will depend on the nature of your condition. Through this unique partnership we aim to become your “medical home” where the majority of your health care can be provided in a culturally safe and welcoming space
