Okanagan Indian Band Elections 2017 - For Immediate Release
OKIB I.R. #1, B.C. –February 21, 2017– The Okanagan Indian Band is set to hold its election on March 29, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Head of the Lake Hall.
As of February 15, 2017 there are 33 candidates for the 10 Councillor positions and 3 candidates for the one position of Chief.
OKIB membership who would like more information are encouraged to contact Marcus Hadley, Electoral Officer by email at [email protected], or by telephone to 250-884-4703 collect calls will be accepted. An elector may vote by either requesting a mail-in ballot from the electoral officer and completing and delivering it before the election, or attending the election in person.

The Okanagan Indian Band is part of the Okanagan Nation, which is comprised of 8 Indian Bands, including; Lower Similkameen Indian Band, Upper Similkameen Indian Band, Osoyoos Indian Band, Penticton Indian Band, Westbank First Nation, Upper Nicola Indian Band, Colville Confederated Tribes and the Okanagan Indian Band.
The Okanagan Indian Band is located at the head of Okanagan Lake in Vernon, BC, and totals 11,282 hectares. There are currently about 1995 Okanagan Indian Band members.
