Head of the Lake (HOL) & Madeline Lake Drinking Water Info - May 2019
At this time OKIB only has the capacity to provide drinking water to only the most vulnerable families, those with children less than 2 years of age and expectant mothers living within the affected regions (Irish Creek/Head of the Lake, and Madeline Lake). Public Works will be calling these families today and delivering water and/or dispenser units on Friday.
The Health Department will be calling all other households within the affected water source regions to survey their current drinking water needs.
Those on private wells within the affected region should contact Priscilla Cheung, Environmental Health Officer, First Nations Health Authority at 250.851.4980 to have their water tested. The do not consume notice applies to all well water sources in the affected region.
The water quality has not changed only the guidelines associated with drinking water safety.
OKIB is working as swiftly as possible to remediate this problem.
