K̓alhwá7al̓ap – Hello. sVanessa Edgar nskwátsitsa - My name is Vanessa Edgar. T'it'q'etmeckan - I am from Lillooet. Láta7 Vernonha lhwan wá7 - I live in Vernon.
I acknowledge that where I live and work is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan People.
I am now working for OKIB as the Pre-employment Supports Caseworker, working with PIB and OIB.
I grew up in Lillooet, moved to Kamloops after graduating high school and lived in the Secwepemc territory for 26 years. In that time I became a mother and raised my four children, attained my Human Services Diploma from TRU in 2010. I've worked in the social services field for the past nine years, seven of those years as a community support worker, at a day program for adults with developmental disabilities. And two years working as a Youth Reconnect worker/Youth Outreach worker. I also worked as a youth mentor worker at Four Directions School (Alternative Education program).
In my spare time I am spending time with my family, exploring the Okanagan, being in nature and hiking. I look forward to working with the people in a good way.
Kukwstum̓ckál̓ap - Thank you.
Hú7malh. Good bye.
