Two Important Scholarship Opportunities
This is just a reminder that there are two important scholarship deadlines fast approaching. Please review this information carefully.
1.) BC Excellence Scholarship:
Deadline for online application is February 15th.
Students must be nominated by their secondary school to qualify for this scholarship and each school may nominate one student only. In order for an appropriate selection to be made, students must submit a copy of their resumes and personal essays to Mrs. Cyr or Mr. Colclough for review. The deadline for submitting these documents is January 29th.
Once the selected nominee is notified, he/she will complete the online application by February 15th. Please remember that the online application must be completed in one session because it cannot be saved and completed later. It is important to review the online application and follow the instructions to prepare information offline.
2.) Cmolik Foundation Scholarship:
Deadline for online application is February 7th
Students who have lived in Canada for at least seven years and have experienced adversity in their lives are eligible to apply. They may not have top grades through high school but must be capable of succeeding at the post-secondary level.
In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements, student applications will be adjudicated by a selection committee that will consider the student’s proven resilience in the face of adversity, their positive work ethic, their academic suitability, their contributions to their community, the clarity of their educational goals, their focused commitment, their fit with the organization, and the support of their references.
All applicants must be endorsed by their secondary school. The principal’s nomination letter must be included with the application. Each BC secondary school may only nominate one application unless prior permission received. Applications must be completed online.
In order for an appropriate selection to be made, students must submit a hard copy of their application (without the reference letters) to Mrs. Cyr or Mr. Colclough for review. The deadline for submitting these documents is January 22nd.
